Christmas Eve in Iceland

This has been my first Christmas back, since I moved 29 years ago. That seems crazy when I say it....

Anyway, following much airport drama with drone havoc, we have made it over!

Christmas Eve morning tradition in Iceland, is to visit the graves of relatives and leave a candle and a branch of spruce on the graves. We visited four different cemeteries, to see everyone finishing here, with my mum. It was sad and reaffirming at the same time.

Then in the evening is Christmas dinner and presents etc. This year we had two veggie starters, followed by delicious halibut.
This was the first Christmas in my sister's new flat and the christening of her new kitchen too! It went very well. It was lovely to be with family.
