Tiny Tuesday . . . Red and Gold

This is
Metrosideros 'Maungapiko'.  It is a natural hybrid between Pohutukawa and Southern Rata, discovered by Graeme Platt.  It has thin pointy green leaves and is covered in bright red flowers in the summer.  The bees are loving it.
I liked the mystery in this shot that the macro provided.  The delicate gold stamen are clear but the red of the flower is indistinct.
Thank you Kanga Zu for hosting this month.
