The first sunset of 2019.

I awoke to a grey damp morning, the first one of the New Year.
All the Christmas cards are now in a pile, where we will re-read them and then take them up to our local St Giles Hospice shop for recycling. They are then passed to  a company named Smurfitt Kappa, who pay the Hospice by the weight.
The cards are pulped and made into reusable material.
Over the years this has raised £50,000 for the Hospice.
I leave the tree up, for a few days, but then will consign it to its box and it will be put under the eaves in the loft bedroom    until next December. The crib stays in place until Twelfth Night.
I made the two of us Christmas dinner. We always did this when the family were at home over the years.
Hubby had a miniature Christmas pudding for one from a hamper we received from friends. (I had decided that I had eaten enough! )
It has always been a tradition that we pour brandy over it and then light it, watching the blue flame burn off the alcohol.
It makes for a yummy taste!
Each year I make the pudding for the family and this time we took it down to Bristol on Boxing Day, which was our family Christmas time this year,  where the grandchildren love to watch this unusual (to them) ceremony!
After lunch we walked up to the local Sainsbury's to get some milk, and a few more items.
The sky had cleared in a keen wind.
Good to be out in the fresh air.
It will be a colder night with frost forecast.
I took the photo as the sun was just slipping below the horizon.
Everything is now quiet and still out in the garden, where there has been lots of activity today.
We have a good programme downloaded to watch this evening on TV.
The New Year now has taken its first step.
