Life in a Northern Town

The Amigos Have a Busy Morning

Our mission today was to find Huddersfield's most famous sons and daughters.

We started with the easy one - Harold Wilson - the Amigos got up close - see extras, and they also admired the railway station. Grandpa, from Tuesday's Blip, used to be the station master here. We then had a quick diversion to find some evidence of the Amigos' Mum's maiden name of Birdsall  - see extras. It wasn't very exciting  - but as I am a Chartered Tax Adviser, married to (and the parent of) a Chartered Accountant I guess it was fitting.

It all went downhill a bit from there. We managed to find a poster of the current, Huddersfield born, Dr Who - all these are in extras - and located a plaque on the library for James Mason, but we failed otherwise. Not to be defeated, Trigger helped us out at home by sitting on the Iron Throne in honour of Lena Headey who plays Cersei Lannister. For Patrick Stewart, the most famous Huddersfield Town fan, we really had to cheat.

Before we came home we stopped for a cuppa in Merrie England - the boys investigated the choice of sandwiches and couldn't find a meatball sub!

Phew - an early post today as I am (allegedly) back at work. I have arranged the handover with the next host, Wendle56 - I have warned the boys that they will be getting plenty of exercise and eating lots of fresh produce from the allotment when they are there, so they'd better take advantage of a relaxing afternoon today!
