2018 coming to an end

After yesterday's long walk, we planned for today to do nothing!
A great thing to do :).

Although I actually cannot do nothing - in the sense of really nothing!
So our NOTHING does involve something :)
I was reading, doing my blip write up, looking through photos (I am behind, as sitting too much in front of a laptop does not appeal in this weather), going swimming, chatting ….  all very relaxed!

Around 5 pm we walked into Velho, had an ice cream, tried the Café we got recommenced (really good!!), I shopped some cheap dresses and returned to the Pousada before 7 pm.

New Years Eve Dinner was starting at 8 pm.
This was organised by Luar Das Aguas for the residents and friends. A buffet with local specialities was planned.
We showered and got ready and walked to the bar.
Once again the power was gone and the buffet happened in candle light.

I saw that every woman was wearing white ….. Hmmm, I did not!
But I had a mainly white dress, so I jumped into the house and changed quickly.

I found out later, that the colour you wear for Reveillon means something and white combines all colours.
If you wear pink you look for love, yellow, you look for money.
So if you see someone wearing yellow you know they are broke …. :)

The food was a lot! A huge tropical fish, prawn salad, crab, filet mignon, turkey, pork joint, farofa, rice, ceviche and more …..
It was great, although I tried to stick to the salads, as I felt still full from the day before.

We had our own small table and it was pretty hot and not much wind. We went for a walk on the beach and admired the stars, which were pretty amazing and relaxed a bit.
The dinner finished about 10:30 pm and the people started leaving for other parties.

Boipeba hosts a ridiculous huge 5 day Rave Party at one of the beaches, which is a reason why the island is busy these days, and water shortage and power cuts happen.
The party guests pay a lot of money for this 5 day event which is not organised by Boipeba … the organisers are from Brasilia and just rent the space here.

So quite a few were here for that.
After New year the people will be gone and Boipeba will be normal again.

From our point of view their busy does not feel really busy. There are still empty beaches and quiet places …. Really busy is still something else, which is good.

Short before Midnight we opened my birthday champagne and shared it with the staff.
Then we sat on the beach and watched the fire works on the other side.
I believe we had a much better view than the people who were actually there :)

We did finish our bottle and decided not to walk into the village and just enjoy the peace here …. Well, we did hear the Techno beats all night … but hey - that’s ok :)

HAPPY 2019 to all :)

Blipping our house beach at low tide sometime today.
Extra - the old dog that sometimes chooses to sleep on our door step. It is a sad and poor thing and we are giving him some love at least.
