Contentment

Now that the last of the rhubarb and the Christmas extras are out of the freezer, it’s time to fill it again, this time with comforting winter goodness.  Today I made six Shepherd’s pies, to add to the beef casserole (more vegetable than beef...trying to eat in a healthier way) and the spicy cream of parsnip soup which we made the other day.

It’s been gloomy again today and so we needed the under-cupboard lights on in the kitchen, but I loved it.  There is nothing I like better this time of year, when it’s so cold outside but so warm and cosy in the kitchen and I have the satisfaction of doing some cooking or baking.

OK…not the most exciting day (or blip) in some people’s eyes but contentment has a lot to be said for it.

He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have.
