Driving through the mountains

Tuesday
Today we left on our long drive down to Florida. Our son is currently living in Bradenton Florida, and since he wasn’t sure how much time he would have off, and doesn’t have much spare money for air fares, we thought the best thing was to have Christmas down there. Laura flies in to Miami late Friday afternoon, and will be with us until the 3rd January. Coming from the warmer climes of Kuwait, where she is currently teaching, she is looking forward to Christmas spent in Florida, rather than enduring the bitterly cold temperatures that we had last year in Cincinnati. Typically, this year the forecast is for much milder temperatures! Jen, being a nurse, is unfortunately working Christmas Day, but they are flying that night to Pensacola, and will spend a few days with Jason’s parents, who have recently retired down there, before joining us on the 28th. We had a great journey today, with fine weather, beautiful skies, and no major hold-ups or road works. My blip, which was actually taken by Roger, since I was driving at the time, was taken driving through the mountains of North Carolina. Even though it was a beautiful mild December day, in places we could still see remnants of the big snow storm that went through about ten days ago! We spent the night in Walterborough South Carolina.
