The dropped stitch

Girls' day out

F and I had a lovely trip out today. .

First a walk along the Levenwick beach.
We had it to ourselves except for 2 people with canoes taking advantage of the flat calm sea.

Next a challenging game of I-spy as we headed down to the only cafe I could be sure would be open, at the airport. Grass, the road, the line down the middle of the road, the sky, sheep. The skill was not to guess the object from its colour on the first guess, or show any surprise when 'grass' featured for a 3rd time, as 'something green'!

Once F had been reassured we could safely go into the airport without being ushered onto a plane, she relaxed and was very entertaining. In the cafe she explained to me quite knowledgably about which are unhealthy foods. Luckily we both chose to ignore the information and enjoyed a plate of chips and tomato sauce.

Perhaps the highlight of our little jaunt was her delight in watching the automatic barriers which now ensure passengers pay for parking at the airport. A controversial and most unpopular introduction in Shetland, for F they were magic, and we waited and watched a few cars going through.
Then it was just a few more rounds of I-spy for the journey back up the road.
