Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

The View

This is the Seattle/Puget Sound view from the 10th floor of the latest retirement home we visited today for our book club meeting,…. L has the same view from her smaller apt and lovely big patio on a lower floor.  On a nice day you’d see mountains and Mt. Rainier.   She says the New Years digital fireworks from the space needle were pretty spectacular from here!

The things they Carried by Tim O’Brian was the classic 1990 novel about Viet Nam.  This group  all lived through this war…some of our husbands served in one way or another.   (H was in the Public Health Service 2 years)   A very interesting discussion about historical events and how to portray them.   Tim O’Brian who was fighting in Viet Nam at age 24 (older than most of his buddies) chose to tell about it with stories.   He says he made them all up!  But why are we so emotionally drained and horrified to read it?  Fiction can do that …history books just  relate the facts.

Off tonight to Nik’s basketball game at a private Seattle HS in the beautiful and luxurious Paul Allen Gym.

Appreciated the comments about the birds yesterday… I do occasionally add odd things and usually no one notices.  So thank you!    I am going to try to get this to look a little bit more as I envisioned it when I have some time….Will let you know if that happens.
