If you can't beat them...

Herdwick Gimmers.

This afternoon Clickychick had to drop off some photo files near Plumpton.  The weather for once was sunny so i opted to go with her in the hope of getting a blip.

On the way there we passed this field of Herdwick Gimmers and the sun was lighting them up.  There's a blip on the way back I thought.  I hadn't allowed for the speed the light changes at this time of the year.  By the time we were back the sun had moved and weakened.  Never mind I took some shots anyway.

For those who don't know Herdwicks are unlike any other breed of sheep in the UK.   Their origins are a mystery with two differing legends.  They swam ashore from sinking ships as the armada fled round the north of the British Isles and down the west coast. or the vikings brought them over when they settled Cumbria.  One notable feature of the breed is they are born almost black and get progressively lighter as they age.
