Wound up in Wexford

Boulders

Thank you everyone for your good wishes yesterday.

The first day of the rest of my life, I was planning a lie in.  It was rudely interrupted by the door bell, and the arrival of this delivery.

We've mused over a rock feature in the garden for some time.  In an ideal world, I would have liked one large standing stone - but that was just not practical.  So we opted for 4 moderate sized boulders.  Moderate sized they may be, but well beyond our ability to lift!

The crate was initially offloaded from the lorry upright; we (and the driver) looked at it and thought "how are we going to get those large boulders out of the crate without a crane?"  So very kindly, the driver used his tailgate under the base of the crate to tip it onto its side.

Subsequently, we have managed to lever/roll two of the boulders through the gate and into the garden.  We'll tackle the other two on Sunday.  Until then, we can't get W's car out of the garage.  W is now looking forward to learning how to play with drive a mini-digger and getting advice on whether the size of digger that we can get through our gate will cope with one of these boulders.  It'll be fun and interesting getting them into a position that we want them - the plan is for three arranged as a base, and one on top.
