Juxtapositions

I think this new building in Manchester City Centre works. I like the juxtaposition of old and new. And I like the juxtaposition of shapes - the triangular floorplate of the Victorian building in the foreground set off by the cylindrical drum which sits behind it, and beyond that the long frontage of Victoria station.

What I am looking at - old and new - is the newly opened Hotel Indigo, with its restaurant and bar Mamunian at ground floor level.

Interesting fact: the road which sits in front of Victoria Station is also a bridge. It straddles the River Irk, which joins the Irwell just beyond the Arena.
