RTFM

As I drive through Mountain Cross the phone rings. Ian, the EPC surveyor, has arrived early and is waiting at the house. He’s a classic Lanarkshire gadgie, with career stories starting as tractor driver at age 5, taking in meat inspector and Glasgow council worker on the way.

Then Jamie and Gavin arrive to try and get the heating working properly. It turns out that the two zone approach that they’ve taken so far just won’t work with the current pipe layout. We revert, with rich consultation of the manual, to a one zone setup. If it’s not suitable we’ll need to fit a motorised valve or two.

Next visitor is Gordon, who brings me new sounds on CD and helps load the washing machine into the car. And I’m off to Kinghorn.
