Pictures & Woodwork.

By PeterB

More work done on the Watch Box..

Have spent sometime in the workshop over the past couple of days.
This is what the box will eventually look like, although in this shot it is minus the glass which I will collect next Tuesday
I have now applied the Danish oil all over the box. Two coats applied with time between for it to dry. You will see how it has brought out the grain in the wood. (extra 1)
I have now glued the felt on the base of the box and then glued in the compartments for the watches.

I have cut the main base and the surrounding pieces of wood so that the box itself will sit in it. (Extra 2). I will be covering this base with some felt, same colour as in the box.
The purpose of this main base, is that the box can be removed from it and watches can then be worked on without losing any pieces of the watch. If the work on the watch in incomplete the box can be put back in the base and secured. The base of the box itself is raised far enough for this purpose.

Still some more to do on it yet, but now making good progress. More blips to follow soon.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Take care.
