Banjo

Meet Banjo. He is 14 weeks old and weighs 45 pounds! He's a Newfoundland and he belongs to our new neighbors Cindy and Bruce. He's quite restrained for a puppy and often goes for a walk with us in the afternoon.

We took a new route home from Berkeley today. I managed to go to some old haunts and stay with friends two blocks away without going by our house. I'm just not ready for that. I'm not sure I ever will be. We were both eager to get out of Berkeley and back to SAnta Rosa. That must be a good sign.

We took a new route home today through the Sonoma Valley. It takes longer but it's quite beautiful. There were lots of blipping opportunities--
...Some lovely old barns
...Two egrets standing on top of posts next to the marsh.
...One vineyard with dark burgundy leaves still on the vines
...A huge uprooted tree stump with its roots facing the sky
...Hundreds and hundreds of birds lined up just so on the power lines
---but we were too tired to stop.

There was a lovely sunset tonight, but I left it a few moments too late...I liked the dark trees silhouetted against the sky, but it just didn't quite work.
We're looking forward to sleeping in our bed in our house!
