The Barony Hall or Church

This red sandstone Victorian Gothic building located in Glasgow's Castle Street is now a ceremonial hall which was bought by Strathclyde University in 1986. The first church on this site  dates back to around 1595. This building was inspired by Girona Cathedral and Dunblane Cathedral. This is a good time of year to photograph the west-facing facade when the poplars are leafless.
The Barony houses a very grand organ, the Maurice Taylor Organ, which was installed in 2010. This Bach-style organ is designed for performances of Bach’s music in their original form and has been used for numerous concerts and recitals. It is also played before and after graduation ceremonies but falls silent when the building is used as an exam venue. It can be quite tricky to find a time when it is open to the public as it houses a constant stream of events of one type or another.
