Vintage or Vinegar?

While sorting through and clearing the garage I have come across a couple of bottles of wine. One was labelled as 2003, I suspect that this one was a similar age, it has a cork cork, not plastic or screwtop.

The question is, was the wine of good enough quality to have aged nicely, or was it subject to such poor conditions that it has suffered and is now closer to vinegar?
