The Order of Things

We've sprung for a housecleaning: two cleaning sisters will show up Tuesday morning. This place has gotten out of control over the past year. I know burning wood is part of the problem, so was having the dining room stacked with items to sell, plus a year of illness that included Eric convalescing downstairs, with clothes, supplies and equipment all over the place - and maybe most of all, me bitching and moaning about living in such a mess. I function much better in a clean and orderly house, but it takes so much time and I'm sick of it.
So, the cleaners come on Tuesday - but so do the sewer workers. We figure the cleaners will finish cleaning just about the time the sewer guys finish digging a trench all along the street directly in front of the house. They'll dig the trench, scoop out dirt and smashed up old concrete pipes, lay new plastic ones, then shove the dirt back into the trench, smack it down, sweep up, and move on down the block. Where does the dust they create go, though?
