Sandeman House Garden

After Saturday's abortive visit we returned to the Storytelling Centre for the exhibition Now You See It, Now You Don't,  photographs that challenge one's perception of perspective, from Edinburgh's Young Carers.

From the window is a fine view of Sandeman House Garden, so we went down for a close look, the access is via Trunk's close and passes the offices of the Cockburn Association and the Scottish Book Trust.
This cockerel sculpture  was inspired by a hen on a billboard on the London underground, but came to be seen by the makers as a portrait of Phil Johnson, head of the company. The title was added later: 'a cockalorum is a self-important little man.' Turnbull Jeffrey Partnership, the landscape architects who designed the garden, chose The Cockalorum from an exhibition of ironwork in the garden. It was unveiled in 1992
In the background is the sculpture of Sir Patrick Geddes, by Kenny hunter.

This was followed by a look round the lighting department of John Lewis for the bedroom lights, only to find appropriate bulbs for those we already have. Sadly, this means we won't be needing the lovely Tiffany Style lights after all (as if we even considered them....)

But the weather - so clear, bright and sunny, was a joy to be out and about.
