Coming in to land

A really busy day.

Early trip in to Warkworth to shop for the gathered family (minus J who has had to keep working) lunch. Managed to miss the heavy traffic which can at times clog the road into Warkworth so badly that it can take a half hour to go a few hundred metres.

Then I went down to Southend and further along the shallows of Kawau Bay out from Snells Beach hoping to see some Kuaka (Bar-tailed godwits). Not only did I see some; there were as many in this flock as I have seen in one place ever before at Snells. I was fortunate to get this picture of a kuaka landing near the group. The extra is of Tsuken hurrying to catch up after I had let him know of the crowd of kuaka to see.

After a really excellent meal prepared by S (despite the aftermath of a migraine), I drove to North Shore Hospital to collect mother-in-law who was discharged from hospital today. Got her back to her home in time to have her evening meal (prepared by the Home Care lady).

Later this evening, before a light snack and off to bed, the kids and we played a game called something like Speech bubbles. It is great fun, and adults and children are as likely to do well (or not). Tsuken went to Auckland for a Dojo session with Kancho, and has just arrived back.
