All the yesterdays

On a much dreaded trip to the dentist, I spotted what is doubtless referred to by loyal patrons as "the club". My Dad went to one of these in Blackpool every Tuesday and Friday and once I could drive, I'd give him a lift there and he'd get the bus home. The bus drivers got to know him and would take a bit of a diversion to drop him off at the end of the road. He'd do random things like try to break up fights with his white stick at 85. These little community hubs persist in spite of everything and often bear no relation to what they were set off as. That's the only way to explain a conservative club in ever red Salford.
