Backblip: Pass me a bowl of mashed potatoes...

We had a very scenic drive from Granada to the Sierra María, pausing to shop at a Lidl on the way. Our first Lidl visit on the Continent and it provoked a little weirdness, being so very familiar and yet wholly different to the UK experience. Guadix, where we stopped, is in an area of interest for its potteries and its Troglodytic houses. The landscape was stark but interesting.

Shortly before we reached destination the landscape changed into one of utter beauty, though perhaps still somewhat stark and also rather Who-ish. It did make me emotional, almost as much as the Alhambra had done, and moved me to tears with the absolute grandeur.

The drive up the pass through the town of María and on into the National Park was simply breath-taking. I noted the abundance of roadside snow poles, something that I have not seen for a long time. Happily there was no snow and the pass was open. Snow is forecast for Wednesday however so we must begin to think about leaving again soon, or possibly be happy to be snowed up for a while.

My shots for the day seem to have been confined entirely to through-the-vehicle-window ones. Mostly rubbish, but this one isn't too bad.
