RESCUE RANGERS

A trip to the boat ramp to spot a bird or two turned into witnessing some very clever work on an injured pelican.
Two lady volunteers were on the hunt for the pelican by setting a noose just under the sand and some fish in a bucket to entice him ashore. Success in a flash.
The pelican in the arms of the volunteer, removing the fish hook from the pelican and then the pelican walking away after his treatment with his number boldly written on his wing for easy spotting over the next couple of weeks make up the blip.
Before they let him go they passed a metal detector over his wings just in case another hook might be in place.
I was also able to see inside his big beak to see his airway and to feel his chest - so soft.
Those volunteers were wonderful.
Golf tomorrow.
