La vida de Annie

By Annie

Tienda de avarcas.

Had a stroll round Mahon as it was market day, but not being the tourist season the number of stalls in the Placa D'Esplanada was much depleted and not very interesting. Buster enjoys it though as it is home to a gazillion (rough estimate) pigeons which he can launch into the air with a single rush and bark. They are so used to this that they just rise enough to let him run past and settle down again where they were. This allows him to repeat the exercise indefinitely of course. Having failed to get a decent capture of this frantic process, I went for a pic of the window of the Avarca (traditional Menorcan sandals) shop in the square. Although of similar design, made of two strips of leather, the variety is huge, and grows every year. More than the sandals, however, my eye was caught by the magnificent bench used as a prop to display them. Who would not love a garden seat like this?
