Xmas Markets

Xmas Market at the Monument

Continuing the Xmas and Newcastle theme, we popped into town this afternoon. This was a respite from the Builders who are working all hours on the house (slight problem when the plumber put the new boiler in totally the wrong place!) Life is all about good communication. Get this wrong, and everything goes wrong. It is a chain reaction of events - which if you don't deal with straight away can get totally out of control. Piece of advice - never assume anything when you are dealing with architects, plumbers and builders. Specify everything to the nth amount of detail - leave no margin for confusion, obfuscation, interpretation. The main culprit here is the absent architect. This one has brought a whole new dimension to the discipline (or not) of project management.

Whinge over - the Xmas market was nice - but incredibly expensive. We bought about 5 olives and the guy wanted £3 !!! The Xmas lights were lovely and we also visited a small art (Advent) exhibition at the Holy Biscuit next to the Biscuit Factory. There were some really good paintings - especially one of a surfer riding a huge wave; it looked so solid and menacing...

Home to put up some Xmas lights in the garden (warm white - classy!), tea and then out hopefully to a country pub with friends.

Perhaps we will get a roof tomorrow - we live in hope... :)
