Fish ladder

We're in Glasgow for a couple of days for a birthday party. Unpleasant drive down - flooding everywhere! An unfamiliar computer and software, but I think I'm coping!

We had a look at Gavin's Mill, in Milngavie, which was once a real mill but is now a wonderful Fair Trade shop and café. A hundred years ago, the River Allander, on which the mill sits, was dammed for some local industry and this made it impossible for the salmon to get up to their spawning grounds. In the 1950s this fish ladder was built and the salmon now colonise the upper reaches of the river.
