Leap of faith

This image is of the Seior Girls 2000m Steeple Chase at the NZ Secondary Schools Athletic Championships in Dunedin. There were a couple of almosts but the girls recovered very quickly. Millies Dad had a big smile on his face when he saw me coming over to the start line of the 3000m, Millie was doing some stride outs and did not see me stnding at the start untill just before the start and got quite a surprise. Millie's race was quite fast right from the start the first 200 was ridiculas 30secs. Millie ran through the 1500 half way in 5:01 and had to fight the last 300m tooth and nail against another girl to a guts it out in a 100m sprint for the finish only to be beaten by about the thickness of 2 pairs of shoe laces finishing in a Personal Best time of 10:26. I was so proud of her and the effort she put in and made sure I told her as well. Millie is 16 and because of where her Birthday falls she has to run in the under 19 grade pretty tough. Excellent work this is only her second race on the track at this distance and has only been training for this for 3 months some of the girls Milly is running against have been doing this for 6 or more years. All I could say was well done you ran a gutsy race and on top of that ran a PB. Milly ran the better race because the medal winners never ran a PB.
