From the top of the cliffs above this bend in the Tweed, the river stretches towards Melrose and the Eildon Hills. The local myth is that Sir Walter Scott stopped here so often on his outings from Abbotsford that his horses would halt here automatically.

There are many notices warning visitors not to go near the cliff edge, but from the wreaths on prominent display today, I guess someone had unfortunately ignored the warnings.
