Snowdrops and an outsider

With snowfall,  and plenty of it, expected imminently I thought it would be a good time to portray some snowdrops. I like them very much but too often I'm hibernating and miss their exuberance in the early and cold months of the year.

I was attracted to this clump and then noticed the lone outlier struggling up through the leaf mould. I wonder how a new plant evolves as I'd thought they literally spread from their clump of bulbs. But obviously this must have seeded on the wind. I'm now wondering how they will cope when the snow engulfs them. Perhaps a good blast of cold air aids their successful propagation.
