Woodpeckers heading off to work

The snow arrived much later than forecast but when it did it certainly delivered. On waking this morning there was a total white-out and the snow kept falling into the early afternoon. Helena's work arrangements are quite complicated and she didn't know which of her jobs might be cancelled both today and tomorrow.

By the time she headed off on foot to today's indoor market in the Shambles it was clear that the local schools would be closed today, which would make life easier for her. It also seemed likely that the expedition tomorrow would be cancelled, so that she can have her market stall again tomorrow.

I do admire her commitment and felt it was time to blip her again as she headed off to work. However within two yards of her expedition 's start she had spotted a good blip opportunity in the front garden, where the teasel seed pods were covered in snow. I could have blipped her with her phone/camera but I prefer to see the whites of her eyes and her smile here.

I've been very lazy today, and have spent a lot of time arranging food for the birds in the garden whilst also trying to clear space for them. But the snow kept on coming and within minutes any cleared snow was covered over again. Now it is mid-afternoon and the snow is melting quickly and getting slushy. There seems to have been at least 7 inches and the trees and shrubs were laden until the melt began, but the snow has slid quickly down to the ground. By the time any sunshine arrives today or tomorrow which would improve conditions for photography, the whole scene may well be looking rather dull.
