London skyline from the river

"You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself."
Alan Alda

K1 and I are off to London with P today for an overnight theatre trip - K2 is performing in the hospitality industry charity panto, a fundraiser for Springboard charity. No big deal then, only in Leicester Square Theatre!
Feet up and let National Express take the strain, we soon reach London Victoria in time for lunch, K2 meets us briefly but has to dash off to the theatre for more preparation for the evening show.
We decide on a river trip to Greenwich; in all the years and trips I've made to London I've not travelled by water, so it's off to Westminster Pier to get the Clipper - and wouldn't you know it there's one due in 2 minutes.
I spend most of the journey at the back of the boat, wrapped up against the cold, snapping away at the ever-changing waterfront and skyline; K1 stays in the warm. Afternoon sunlight is just awesome at this time of year and I'm engrossed for the whole 2 hour journey.
A brief freshen-up in the hotel room near Victoria on our return, described in the online reviews section as "comically small", then off to a restaurant on Garrick Street to meet up with P and R for dinner, with an unexpected appearance from S.
Panto begins at 7.30 and we're there in good time (oh yes we are!). K2 hasn't mentioned that she plays one of the main roles and it takes me several minutes to recognise her on stage in full costume! Emotional overload as we watch in admiration and bask in the reflected praise, just amazing. A second great performance in the bag then off to the bar to celebrate, although not too much because there's still the rest of the week's performances to go, and work! We part company at about midnight, before I turn into a pumpkin, and eventually drift off to sleep in the early hours, head buzzing.
