Bay of Fires

It turns out that I was so busy being on holiday, that my photos are somewhat lack lustre. Sorry!
This is the Bay of Fires at sunrise.
Allegedly, Captain Cook sailed by here and spotted several fires on the beach lit by Aboriginal tribes people.
I like to think that it refers to the flame red/orange colour of the lichen growing on the sparkling granite rocks.

We camped in one of the many free camp sites in that area. You have to be prepared for no water and a basic toilet arrangement.
I can deal with that, but the fine charcoal dust mixed into the sand quickly made everything filthy - and that was hard to deal with.
