Mary

Today was the funeral of Mary, our lovely friend who died quite suddenly on the 23rd of January. We had to queue to get into the church - so many people had come to pay their respects and to celebrate Mary’s life. On paper, Mary was an ordinary woman who had led a mostly uneventful life. Yet something about her had touched many people in our small village and beyond. She had been a very generous and kind person, full of life and always, always full of gratitude. She will be sorely missed.
This afternoon my cousin Nick arrived - he is staying with us on his way to a funeral in Ayr tomorrow. It’s good to see him and catch up on family news..one of the good things about funerals is the way they bring people together and strengthen relationships in families and communities.
