A Traditional Waymark

I took the easy way today, across Whitchurch Common and down to Windy Post. Windy Post stands on the Tavistock side of Dartmoor, beside the Grimstoneand Sortridge Leat. It's thought to be a medieval waymark on the route between the abbeys of Tavistock and Buckfast.

There was plenty of water coming down the leat today and as you'll see, the lighting was very strange. The sun was trying to break through the cloud but struggling to make it.

The theme for today's Wideangle Wednesday challenge is traditional and I think this ancient marker certainly qualifies for that. It's hosted by steveng this week.

I've added a mono version as an extra
