Common Enchantments

In the woods today

Jerry and I were driving out to do a hike up at a state park at the mountains when it started dropping rain on the window of the car.  He looked at the weather map and saw where the rain was headed so instead we decided to go to a park that was closer to home and walk on that trail.  And there was not rain near!

Croft State Park is about an hour and a half away from us.  It has a  two nice lakes for fishing or boating and is also an equestrian park with miles trails for horseback riding.

The Palmetto Trail that winds through the state from the mountains to the ocean passes through Croft.   If you look at the right side of this photo you can see the trail running along the edge of the Kelsey Creek.  I am standing on the bridge over the creek to take this photo and that is the way you have to go to continue the trail..over the bridge to the other side.  Or you can wade through the creek as there are plenty of rock hopping areas.      This trail is actually 14 miles total winding its way through the park but we only walked two miles as it started to rain!

I have walked another section of the trail in this park with my hiking group.  We walked on the far side from where this is...and hiked 10 miles as we had to make a loop back to the cars.    Next time we need to leave a car at the other end so we can hike that total trail.    The trail has some hills but nothing like mountain hiking so I know I could make the 14 miles!!    In winter when it is cold out.

Today was warm and humid..come back winter weather!!  I am not ready for walking with sweat!!

In the extra is another view of the creek from below the bridge.

Not really too wide but the best I could get with the lens I had for Wide Wednesday.
