Hand sounding machine

This is the dial of a nineteenth century hand sounding machine. These machines were used for measuring sea depth. This one sits under a 'Do Not Touch' sign in the Kelvin Room of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. I attended a meeting in this room this morning. Here I discussed with others efforts to rebuild, restock and restaff the library at the University of Mosul.

Afterwards I walked to work in the sunshine for a PhD supervision, a PhD progress review meeting, and a research centre meeting on Bruce and Wegene's recent research in Brazil on participatory budgeting.

Exercise today: 30 minutes on the exercise bike, walking (17,741 steps).
