A day in the life

It's been a really foggy day all day. I had some errands in Kalmar today and could hardly see the top of the mainland bridge driving over it.

In the afternoon I had a short rehearsal with our violin player for the Salut d'Amour piece. Since she was a teenager she knew she would be totally blind one day, because of an eye illness. Despite knowing that, she trained to be a teacher of the classical violin but has also played a lot of folk music and developed ways to read music so she could learn new music pieces and then practice till she knew them by heart.  Now, that she turned sixty she's almost totally blind but has a fantastic memory. She can no longer read music but is totally dependant on her memory. I sent her a sound file of the piece I wanted her to play and she memorized it from that in a very short time. We played it through a few times and I'm sure we can have a rehearsal with the full group next week, that will be great fun.
