Geordie Icons

Geordie Icons - Coz they are worth it?

I was at a research seminar today at the new Newcastle university business school. Just opposite is the 'iconic' St James Park (Sports Direct Stadium) or (Wonga Land). Whilst meandering around the ground I saw this larger than life poster of wor Cheryl. I thought this was perfect symmetry. They so deserve each other!!

Here is a scenario. You could go to the Metro Centre (developed by Sir John Hall - ex Chairman and owner of NUFC) to buy some expensive hair (as advertised by Cheryl) product you cannot afford (coz you'r wurf it). You do not have enough money so you get a quick wad of cash from Wonga (at a 10000 percent interest rate). Wonga sponsor NUFC. Then - now feeling flush you pop into Sports Direct (owner Mike Ashley who also owns NUFC) and spend more money (not yours - but tomorrow will never come and you can always borrow more from Wonga). Now, heavily in debt, you can cheer yourself up by going down the pub and watching the Magpies play Fulham (we are losing 2:1 as I write this blip).

Is'nt this perfect symmetry and even an 'Ironic view of the Iconic' !!
