Last Light at Longboat Key

It was a tough blip decision tonight, with the sun competing against the pelican...my favorite bird.

We went out to the beach this afternoon at about 3:30. Steve and I sat with the girls for about a half an hour, then left for the nearby boat launch. They're weren't many birds there, but they were good models. Plus, a grandma-type fisher-person started feeding her leftover shrimp bait to our models. Fun to watch.

We left the beach to go to another beach to see the 'set. As we got out of the car, Steve asked..."What lens should I have on?" I told him to leave the long lens in the car.

WHAT A BONEHEAD! Look at that beautiful sailboat way out there! WE COULD BOTH HAVE ZOOMED IN ON THAT! Plus, we had diving pelicans. WE BOTH COULD HAVE ZOOMED IN ON THAT! Again...what a bonehead.

Two pelican pictures in my Extras. The first shows a pelican rudely pushing a seagull off a post, and the second is a pelican just about to catch a tossed shrimp.
