Valentines Day

The first recorded association of Valentines Day with romantic love is in the "Parlement of Foules" written in 1382 by Geoffrey Chaucer. The poem was written to honour the first anniversary of the engagement of Richard 11 of England to Anne of Bohemia.

The custom of sending cards, flowers and chocolates on Valentines Day originated in the UK
Although prior to that there were different folk traditions in Europe.

The zumba ladies celebrated wirh each other by sharing chocolates. Our instructor brought along a huge box of silver and rose foiled chocs, and two friends brought another box each. So while we zumbaed we munched away.

Tonight ian has bought an M &S valentines theme meal which he will prepare later. The rose he gave me, which is in my picture is made of chocolate .

I think we will all be dieting tomorrow.
