View from Black Crag

We drove over to the Lake District today to meet up with Jen and Pete and go for a walk around Tarn Hows.  It was such a lovely day with a haze across the fells.  I took my walking poles with me and so we decided to go further afield and take a route we hadn't walked before up to Black Crag.  As we ascended, the sky began to clear and the views lengthened.

The fells in the background are Crinkle Crags, Bow Fell and the Langdale Pikes.  Jen and I pottered with our cameras for a while whilst Tony and Pete explored the ridge, then we wended our way down, diverting to  viewpoints before reaching the tarns.  There were Belted Galloways enjoying the sunshine which made for pretty pictures.

From Tarn Hows we drove in to Coniston and lunched at Herdwick Cafe, a new one to us and the village.  Tony had lamb casserole in a huge yorkshire pudding and we three enjoyed tasty falafel burgers with chips.  We will definitely be returning!  Afterwards we said our goodbyes to Jen and Pete who returned to Ambleside and the remainder of their holiday.  A smashing day in excellent company.
