Grosvenor Bridge

We met friends in Chester for lunch today so I crossed the river to take this photo of Grosvenor bridge.

Just behind where I am standing there is a house with the very unusual name of "Nowhere". There is a story that this house was the inspiration for The Beatles song "Nowhere Man". When The Beatles appeared in Chester in 1963 they heard about the house and came down to the river to see if it was true. John Lennon was so fascinated with the name that he used it as a base for the song which later appeared on Yellow Submarine. In addition John's maternal grandmother, Annie Milward, was born in the Bear and Billet pub not far from here on the other side of the river at the bottom of Lower Bridge Street.
