Nicky and her Nikon

Klosters at night

It was lovely to see Luke last night and we enjoyed our dinner out with him at a local pub restaurant. Gavin took him to the hospital this morning for his check up with the orthopaedic surgeon, and everything is very good, which is quite a relief, this being his second knee operation after the first one failed. Luke has started running (and has entered a half marathon which takes place in October) and he is also refereeing hockey matches at university every weekend - he is not allowed to play hockey yet but running around as a ref is fine, and he gets paid by the university for this so he is pleased to be out there on the pitch again and making a bit of money too. Today the surgeon gave him the go ahead to start playing golf again from now, and by the summer he is allowed to play tennis again, so he is smiling at that news and very pleased with his progress. He then got the train back to London and was back in Durham by this afternoon.

We flew out to Zurich today. It was very nice for a change to get the later afternoon flight, instead of the usual 7am flight - it allowed me time to exercise this morning, shower and wash my hair, change the bedding, wash all the towels and then drop Murdoch at his holiday hotel on our way to the airport.

On the flip side it means we got here quite late - as is the norm with BA they never depart on time so we left quite late and then there was awful traffic coming out of Zurich. We always fly BA as we enjoy using the lounge (due to Gavin's Gold card for life status) and had a delicious light lunch (and champagne) before boarding the flight. I was impressed at their selection of food for lunch - I had my favourite things like sweet potato falafels, roasted cauliflower salad with pomegranate, hummus, roasted veg salad, all very delicious and healthy.

By the time we arrived it was late and I had no choice but to take a night time photo. It has been sunny here all day and is forecast to be like that for the forthcoming week, so I knew the stars would be visible - I was impressed that I can see them despite the lights from the village. There is so much snow here, all banked up on the sides of the roads and our terrace is totally covered with snow and there are huge and dangerous looking icicles from the roof down to the floor.

Tomorrow....up early to go skiing
