Newcastle Downunder

King Edward park

There was a certain degree of difficulty about this drone shot.  In the first place, I was standing near the old remains of the radio signal station at Shepherd's Hill and the compass on the drone wouldn't calibrate because of high magnetic interference.  There must be something underneath it because I was able to calibrate moving some distance away.  Then there was competition for the airspace.  I heard a light plane and got the drone's altitude down and when I had brought it back a gyrocopter flew past and then a hang glider.  I am thinking twice about doing any more shots in the area.

So, this bird's eye view is of King Edward park.  to the North and right is Newie beach, the canoe pool and Newie baths and Nobbys behind that.  Back in the middle behind the Norfolk Island pines you can see Christchurch Cathedral.  A beacon on the Hill.  Behind that is the harbour with Stocko (Stockton or overseas).  You can see Stockton beach stretching out and as far as Port Stephens in the distance.  On and if you follow the bottom of the cliff around you can see the Bogey Hole.

It's been a lovely day today and a little cooler at around 30C and I hope you are all having a good weekend.
