Off to Glasgow

Backblip
Decided at the lasT minute to book up a hotel in Glasgow for a couple of nights for me and the boys for half term holiday. Initially looked at somewhere on the East Neuk but decided to opt for the Hilton on Cambridge Street as it’s got a pool and breakfast was thrown in with the deal. And we do love a good breakfast.

Also a good fare on the train from the station as looking on line was extortion- why can’t the proper price be shown everywhere. Three of us for 17.68 return instead of 36 on Trainline and national rail website!

Our room was ready when we arrived at 1230 so cases were dumped and straight out again walking to Kelvingrove to see Dippy on Tour . Weather was lovely and a nice walk of around 20 mins through the park. We stopped first though for our lunch at Singlend and I resisted the cakes and had hearty soup.

Cameron and I had already seen Dippy when we went to London when he was 8 which he still remembers (great) but new experience for Ben and as he is fanatical about dinosaurs was good for him to see. Also wandered around after this and when finished we walked over the road to Tantrum Doughnuts, all handmade each day and far superior to the sickly sweet American Krispy Creme. And even better it’s an independent with the owner coming from Perth. Good coffee too.

After that we walked into the city centre passing the new Charles Rennie Mackintosh statue and arrived at the Harry Potter shop for the boys to browse.

Had a voucher for Zizi for our tea and after all that walking we all had a great appetite.

Back at the hotel the boys went for a swim and play around in the pool and stayed till the bitter end of closing time and I sat at the side and read my book.

We were all exhausted but I was the only one to admit it and we were all sleeping in the very comfy beds by 10.15!
