CHAPEL OF ST JOHN HELSINGTON

Had a really lovely morning this morning.  Which is brilliant because I had a bad night's sleep last night, just normal for me at times these days!!!!  Almost decided to stay in, but then the weather looked like it was going to be really good.

We decided to park up at Sizergh Castle and just do a short walk up to Helsington Church as we'd never been.  Hubby is supposed not to do too much for 6-8 weeks due to his bursitis and coming down the steep part of  the walk proved it was right not to push it.

It was beautiful up there, but fairly hazy.  Not many people, just a couple of cyclists on the way up and two people with their dog.  We went into the church and that mural is something to behold, although not as sharp as I was expecting, probably because there was a lot of light coming through the window.

Lovely little church, right up there quite a long way from anything, but then it catered for the farming community of the time.

We did see some dropped litter, plastic bottles, cycle reflector and a few other things.  Some will have been dropped accidentally but some were obviously just discarded - aarrggh that does annoy me.  We picked up what we could and shoved it in the back pack to get rid of it at home, not a difficult thing to do so why do people drop it in the first place??!!

We passed quite a lot of people on the way back so we had chosen the right time to go.  The Sizergh cafe was heaving so we just popped into Grange and had coffee and lunch at Thyme Out.

When we got home our crocuses had opened beautifully, so I've put that in the extras.  Can you have a "Flower Friday" entry in extras? I've hashtagged it just in case??

Hope you've all had a lovely day.
