On the drive

The day of the long drive, so a bit of a drag eventually - just over 500km down the Bruce Highway, yeah, to drop the car off and get on the transfer bus at tiny Proserpine Airport. When we eventually got to Airlie Beach I think we were both whacked. Bushwhacked. There were some high points on the drive - at Cardwell which is where the Highway hits the sea, there are fabulous views of Hinchinbrook Island and a great bakery with breakfast pies and tremendous cream cakes. Also some low points - driving into Townsville from the north was like going through Sighthill forever and we could have used the time elsewhere to take a break. But here we are. Party town! Let’s get this party started. Well, maybe tomorrow - I can hardly keep my eyes open.
