The fool on the hill

Shooting the breeze

Rush rush to get to Westbury on the way home and a precious 30 minutes in the air snatched from the day.
Some flier chap (the one on the left) was trying to talk to me before I took off. I think I was a bit too focused on leaving the ground to hold a meaningful conversation.
Afterwards though we had a bit of a natter. Turns out he was a Times/News International photographer until a wall fell on him, whilst he was on a job, which broke his neck. His employer kept him on for his convalescent period (which sounds like it was well over a decade) and in that time paid for him to do 3 arts based degrees and a doctorate and then they gave him a job as content executive type operative (something like that anyway) for a cable company based in Argentina and he gets about two and a half months leave a year which he spends in the UK flying and, after he was involved as a stills tog on some Oscar winning movie that Keira Knightley starred in, he got funded to make a 40 minute film about paragliding in the UK that is going out on Channel 4 in the Spring . As you can probably guess, he did most of the talking.
...And he knows the Spice Girls!
But I suppose no job is perfect.
