Scrambling Day

Starting along Yewdale Beck from LowTilberthwaite, we scrambled up Steel Edge to find a lovely lunch stop just shy of this flat tarn. All the way we stayed just above the rising cloud base, which seemed to rise along with us. I’ll admit I’ve tinkered with this blip as the sky was really pretty grey.

We werent so lucky on Wetherlam; the cloud base caught up with us, but produced interesting layers.

Visibility was just 5m on some of the descent and the rocks on Wetherlam Edge were greasy. However it proved an excellent place to practice rope work with no one else around.

The beautiful purple tinged beetle in extras (found on the way up) is probably Carabus problematicus, having slightly dimpled wing cases, but it’s tricky to differentiate it from Carabus violaceus.
