River Abstract

The Waimakariri River at the Gorge Bridge was busy today, with kayakers and people fishing. What caught my eye was the glare off the water where part of the river broke off from the main stream and spread across a shingle bank to form another channel. This is how the braided rivers are made. The flow is away from the foreground.

Although the kayaks were very colourful the only colour in this part of the scene was the green bushes at left. I desaturated that to make the image black and white.
